One to wade in,
Swim in, lose myself in,

You were like a river.

One whose beds I knew,
One whose flows I knew,
Better than my own name,

You were like a river.

The one that carried me,
So far from home, finding
And losing me simultaneously,
Always knowing I was there

You were like a river.

Then one day my river
Turned into an ocean
That no longer remembered
My attributes, leaving me
Diluted and lost in its new state.

You were like a river.

But became an ocean I couldn’t
recognise nor survive in.
